All customers receive a complimentary connecting journey onboard Queensland Rail City network service with every ticket purchase. (Please note: this does not include the Airtrain service to or from the Brisbane Airport). You must be able to show a printed long distance ticket or download the ticket to your mobile device for inspection by a Queensland Rail team member for City Network travel. Please check the Translink website to plan a suitable City Network connection.

The following conditions apply for our AChoice Fare:

Description

Standard full adult fare

Payment Conditions

AChoice fares are not instant purchase (except on the Internet), with hold bookings possible through our Customer Contact Centre or Travel Centre. Payment deadlines are provided by sales teams based on the travel date and booking date.

Internet Bookings

To make a booking, select adult then AChoice fare type. To arrange a refund for an online booking contact the Customer Contact Centre.

Amendment Conditions

AChoice fares can be changed to another fare under the following conditions:

Changes can be made at any time before the scheduled departure date and time shown on the ticket.
A fee of $15 per person applies for rebooking
This fee doesn't apply if the new fare is greater than the original tickets fare
If the new fare is less than the original AChoice fare, the difference in fare is refundable to the customer less the $15 fee
Modifications are allowed provided a new booking is made at the time of changing the original.
Stored credit is not available.
No changes or refunds allowed after the departure date and time shown on the ticket.
AChoice fares can be changed to another type of fare but the fare will then be subject to the specific terms and conditions for the new fare type.
Name changes are not permitted, tickets are not transferable between customers.

Business Seats, RailBeds and Twin and Single Sleepers: $50 fee per person one way

No refund if not cancelled prior to the departure date and time shown on the ticket.

Ticket refunds are processed at the time of cancelling.

BQuick:

The following conditions apply for our BQuick Fare:

BQuick fare prices are subject to availability and departure times and are not guaranteed until a booking is made and payment is received in full. Seasonal surcharges and blackout periods apply.

Instant purchase. Hold bookings are not allowed.

Internet Bookings

To make a booking, select Adult from the search screen then select BQuick if displayed as available. To arrange a refund for an online booking contact the Customer Contact Centre.

Children

The following conditions apply for our Child Fares:

Description

Children aged 4-15 years inclusive travelling with an adult 16 years or over - save up to 50% off*on fares

*The 50% discount is off the full adult AChoice rail fare on Queensland Rail Travel network services. Meals and upgrades to Twin or Single Sleepers are additional costs.

Travel Option

Available across all travel options - Economy Seats, Business Seats, RailBeds and Twin or Single Sleepers.

Availability

Bookings can be made up to 325 days prior to travel subject to availability. Sector fares apply to all breaks of journey.

Payment Conditions

Child fares are not instant purchase (except on the Internet), withhold bookings possible through our Customer Contact Centre or Travel Centre. Payment deadlines are provided by sales teams based on the travel date and booking date.

Internet Bookings

To make a booking, select the number of adults and children, add the child's age then search.
Unaccompanied Children cannot be booked online. Twin and Single Sleepers can only be booked online for children accompanied by an adult.

To arrange a refund for an online booking contact the Customer Contact Centre.

A rebook fee of $15 applies for an unaccompanied child booking (1 fee per booking)

Infants

The following conditions apply for our Infant Fares:

Description

Infants aged 0 – 3 years inclusive.

Travel Option

Economy and Business Seats

A seat is provided free of charge for all infants.

Infants must be booked into a seat directly next to the parent or guardian accompanying them or directly across the aisle in the case of two infants with one parent or guardian.

RailBeds

An infant must be booked into their own RailBed, and a child fare applies.

Infants must be booked into a RailBed directly next to the parent or guardian accompanying them or directly across the aisle in the case of two infants with one parent or guardian.

Twin Sleepers

Infants must be booked into the same Twin Sleeper cabin with the parent or guardian accompanying them and a child fare applies.

Payment Conditions

Fares booked online are instant purchase.

Hold bookings are available through our Customer Contact Centre or Travel Centre. Payment deadlines are provided by the travel consultant based on the travel date and booking date.

Internet Bookings

To make a booking for an infant, select the number of adults and the number of children, inputting the age of the child.

The fare will be displayed based on the age of the child.

Amendment Conditions

Fares can be changed under the following conditions:

Changes can be made at any time before the scheduled departure date and time shown on the ticket.
A fee of $15 per person applies for amendment.
An amendment fee will not apply if the new fare is greater than the original tickets fare.
If the new fare is less than the original fare, the difference in fare is refundable to the customer less the $15 fee.
Modifications are allowed provided a new booking is made at the time of changing the original.
Stored credit is not available.
No changes or refunds allowed after the departure date and time shown on the ticket.

These fares are available across all travel options- Seats, RailBeds and Twin and Single Sleepers.

Bookings can be made up to 325 days prior to travel subject to availability. Sector fares apply to all breaks of journey. There may be limited availability of these fares types on some services.

Payment Conditions

Hold booking scan be arranged by contacting the Customer Contact Centre or Travel Centre. Payment deadlines are provided by sales staff based on the travel date and booking date.

Internet Bookings

Some concession fares can be booked online. However before making your first online concession booking, you will need to contact the Customer Contact Centre or your Travel Centre to have your concession validated in the reservations system.

Changes can be made at any time before the scheduled departure date and time shown on the ticket.
A fee of $15 per person applies for rebooking.

Restrictions

Concession cards used to purchase discounted tickets must be carried whilst travelling for presentation to onboard teams and Authorised Officers on request. Authorised officers may issue Penalty Infringement Notices or Warning Notices for customers travelling on a concession fare ticket which they are not entitled. Fines apply for travel on an invalid concession ticket.

Students | Backpackers

The following conditions apply for our Student and Backpacker Fares:

Description

Save up to 40% off*

Available to eligible full time students (16+) and international backpackers

*The 40% discount is off the full adult AChoice rail fare on Queensland Rail Travel network services. Meals and upgrades to Twin and Single Sleepers are additional costs.

Groups | Edusaver

Queensland Rail Travel offers group discounts as an additional service for our valuable customers.

There's nothing like a school group excursion to broaden young minds and bring learning to life through new experiences, great discounts are also available to school groups with our Edusaver Fare.

The following conditions apply for our Group Fares:

Description

Group discounts may apply for a group of 10 customers or more travelling together on the same itinerary.

Edusaver discounts for school students of up to 70% off* and up to 50% off* for adults/teachers travelling with the group.

*The 50 and 70% discount is off the full adult AChoice rail fare on Queensland Rail Travel network services. Meals and upgrades to Twin and Single Sleepers are additional costs. Edusaver group rates are also subject to approval on request.

Travel Option

Edusaver fares are available in Economy Seats on all services.

All other group fares are available across all travel options.

Queensland Coastal Pass

Queensland Rail offers affordable, flexible rail passes for international visitors. These passes are an exciting option if you are looking to take your time and really experience your journey, with the freedom to travel at your own pace.

Queensland Coastal Pass

The Queensland Coastal Pass is the most flexible, easy and versatile way to discover the east coast of Queensland by rail. With unlimited stopovers in one direction between Brisbane and Cairns (or vice versa), it's your ticket to the east coast's most popular destinations.

Travel can be taken over a one month period offering unlimited stopovers in a single direction of travel (i.e. north or south) in Economy Seats with free travel on RailBus Coach Connections booked in conjunction with a rail sector (for Hervey Bay and Airlie Beach).

Purchase of a Queensland Coastal Pass does not guarantee that the holder will be able to obtain accommodation on any long-distance rail service. Reservations are essential on these services.

Restrictions

Purchasers have six months from the date of purchase to commence travel.

The Queensland Coastal Pass is not transferable to other customers. Available for travel in one direction only (either north or south) on all Queensland Rail Travel coastal long distance services and connecting coach services. Travel on the Kuranda Scenic Rail and Gulflander services is not permitted. Customers may not backtrack to travel on an unused sector.

The pass is only available for purchase by bona fide overseas visitors to Australia, including international visitors on working holiday and student visas. Proof of non-Australian residency may be required - passport, drivers licence, home address, etc can be used to verify this.

Proof of purchase of a Queensland Coastal Pass is required when undertaking the actual travel on the long distance services.

Customers are entitled to one journey on Brisbane’s City network when in possession of a confirmed booking on the Queensland Rail Travel network to connect with a Queensland Rail Travel service.

No refund will be given once a pass has been used to commence travel, nor are refunds allowed on lost, stolen, cancelled or expired passes.

Travel directly from Brisbane to Cairns (or vice versa) is not permitted. A minimum of one break of journey is compulsory.

Any ticketed reservation not cancelled before scheduled departure time of the service will render that sector unavailable for future travel.

Travel is subject to Queensland Rail’s Conditions of Carriage.

Coastal Pass Fact Sheet

Queensland Explorer Pass

Queensland Rail offers two affordable, flexible rail passes for international visitors. These passes are an exciting option if you are looking to take your time and really experience your journey, with the freedom to travel at your own pace.

Queensland Explorer Pass

The Queensland Explorer Pass offers unlimited travel for one or two months across the Queensland Rail Travel network. See every corner of Queensland; from Cairns in the north, to Brisbane in the south and the Queensland Outback that extends to Charleville, Longreach and Mount Isa.

Travel can be taken over a one or two month period with unlimited stopovers in any direction of travel in Economy Seats. Backtracking is allowed and free travel on RailBus Coach Connections booked in conjunction with a rail sector (for Hervey Bay, Airlie Beach, Winton, Quilpie and Cunnamulla).
